About Us

Dr Anthony M Zahra OAM  BDS. F.I.C.O.I.

Dr Anthony Zahra graduated from the University of Sydney in 1967 completing his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). After working in the Sydney Dental Hospital for one year, Dr Zahra started Garners Dental in 1968 while also remaining the visiting Dental Officer for Marrickville District Hospital until it closed.

Throughout his career Dr Zahra has been actively involved in Dental Implantology and the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry (ASID). He was state and Federal President of the ASID for 10 years during which time he introduced the ASID Accreditation Courses. Dr Zahra has received the Fellowship of the ASID and was later made an Honary Member of the ASID, in recognition of his work with the Society.

Dr Zahra is also a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI) where he was bestowed the Fellowship of the ICOI before being appointed Diplomat of the ICOI.

He is a very active Rotarian and has been a member of the Rotary Club in Marrickville for over 30 years.

Dr Nectarios Andrews BDS.  F.R.A.C.D.S

Dr Nectarios Andrews graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1989. He worked as a Dental Officer at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health until 1993, before commencing work at Garners Dental. He completed a Fellowship in the general stream of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1994. He is a Visiting Dental Officer at St. George Hospital Cancer Care Centre and the Westmead Hospital Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences.
Dr Andrews has worked for the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney as a clinical associate and clinical tutor for final year dental students. He continues to deliver lectures to post-graduate nurses and dentists on Dental Implications of Head and Neck Radiotherapy. He is a published author of four journal articles.

Dr Daniel James BDS (Hons) MIPH

Dr Daniel James graduated from the University of Sydney in 1997 with 2nd class honours in a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He worked in the United Kingdom for two years before returning to Australia to continue his career at Garners Dental in 2001.
Dr James completed a Masters of International Public Health in 2006 and has also undertaken voluntary dental work in Romania, East Timor and Mongolia. He is currently assisting with a research project conducted by the University of Adelaide into periodontal disease in Aboriginal populations.

Dr Greg Morris BDS (Hons)

Dr Greg Morris graduated from the University of Queensland in 1977 with 2nd Class honours in a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He has worked extensively overseas as well as in Tasmania, Queensland and finally in Sydney since 1990. Dr Morris joined the experienced Garners Dental team in 2060.

Dr Ashwin Nair BDent (Hons) BMed. Sc.

Ashwin graduated with honours in Dentistry from the University of Sydney in 2010, having completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of New South Wales

He takes great pride in providing high quality dentistry, and leaving a smile on patient’s faces. In addition to interests in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, Ashwin particularly enjoys working with children.

Outside of dentistry, Ashwin loves anything to do with cars and motorsports, and supplements his motoring obsession with a keen interest in music. He plays and teaches the violin, and is an active member of a number of different bands in Sydney.
